Lab160 - Connect Novell Teaming to GroupWise DMS using SOAP PDF Print E-mail

Find out how Cobus and his crew managed to create an integration between Novell Teaming & Conferencing and the GroupWise Document Management System using SOAP. This lab will demonstrate the significant work which has been done to integrate GroupWise DMS on the Linux Desktop with Teaming and Conferencing. A class to teach people to create their own portlets to interface into teaming and conferencing using SOAP will really add significant value to the GroupWise Summit.

Due to the complexities that are normally associated with software development for portals and portlets, Cobus and Johan have created a step by step Hands-On Labthat will guide newcomers to this environment.

In the first part of the lab the attendees will be introduced to the methods of publishing portlets into a portal.  We will be using the Teaming portal (Liferay) for this.  A predefined portlet will be provided, so delegates does not need to be fearful of creating their first portlets immediately.

The second part of the lab, the attendees will briefly be introduced to web services (SOAP/XML), that is if they missed out on the other web services sessions, so that they at least have a brief understanding of creating a SOAP request, and be able to present the SOAP response.  We will be using NetBeans as the IDE framework.

In the third and final part of the lab, the attendees will create a portlet that will perform a SOAP request to the GroupWise server.  They will have to publish this portlet in the Teaming portal.
