Tim Kjell from Sweden is a real winner!

August 31, Stockholm, Sweden
Today Tim Kjell, age 17, received the first prize for his winning design of the GroupWise EMEA Summit wallpaper contest. The prize was handed over to him by Anders Svennefalk (Novell) during a meeting at the Novell Sweden Headquarters.
The wallpaper contest was organized by the GroupWiseR initiative in cooperation with many local groups, for Sweden this was Novell Users Sweden. The contest invited GroupWise enthusiasts to design a GroupWise related wallpaper and many people from all over EMEA have responded to this request very positevely. The 17 year old Tim has won this contest with the best overall design.

More GroupWiseR wallpapers can be found at this page.

Tim entered the GroupWiseR wallpaper contest with his wallpaper called "GroupWise Optimized Programming".

His motivation: "I really like Novell and I've worked a lot with GroupWise even though I'm not that old... yet. So that inspired me to do this wallpaper that might not be that advanced but still contains a bit of code-strings and is quite funny."

After the ceremony on August 31 Tim has send us this e-mail:

I went to Novell in Kista/Stockholm to pick up my diploma and price yesterday and found they had put in an extra prize for me.

There was this really nice backpack stuffed with Novell-things to the top, and it's really great. Trust me, these things makes all my colleagues jealous.

We also took some pictures in front of a Novell-sign, and I can imagine you will see those pictures quite soon.

I'm dying to get my hands on that Groupwise Sequoia and I guess my boss is quite grumpy by now, because we're on her all the time so she can sign all the necessary papers to get it. But I get I'll have to go with 6.5 for a while.

The prize is probably going to be spent on different things down in Sri Lanka, where I'm going the 15th of October, to work as a volunteer. I'm not much of a craftsman so I won't be building houses but all the teams volunteering there has got to communicate with their home countries. That's where I come into the picture. I'll be there to build up halls of computers with internet, and other necessary things.

So I guess alot of the money will be used for my survival... food, clothes, drinks and of course, a couple of new DVD's to give my little sister when I get home ;) You know the drill... Everything costs, and even if small amounts of money, it costs and I don't get paid for volunteering.

Anyway, have a nice fall and I hope Sequoia will be a hit.

Best Regards, Tim Kjell.
